Searching for ‘SEO in Toronto’ or something similar and found this on the first page? Don’t be surprised. It’s what we do and have been doing successfully for quite some time now.
Whether you are located in central Toronto or nearby areas like Scaorbourgh or North York, if you have a business based in these cities that serves the local market, I can help you get consistent leads / customers thanks to the power of quality SEO.
In fact, my whole process consists of 4 proven steps.
- Fixing your site’s architecture
- On Page Optimization
- Off Page Optimization
- Advanced SEO
Let’s take a deeper look at each of these steps.
Site Architecture
Here I’m basically referring to Technical SEO. You need your site architecture on point so link juice can flow properly. If there is no link juice flowing, you’re basically wasting your time with search engine optimization.
The easier it is for link juice to flow, the higher your rankings are going to be. It’s as simple as that. So before we get going, let’s have a look at what link juice really is. PLEASE NOTE: If you can grasp this concept, then you pretty much know what SEO is.
So what is link juice?
When a website links to you, it passes off something called link juice or “link equity”. So the easier it is for this incoming juice to spread around on your site, the higher your rankings are going to be.
So what stops it’s from not spreading around properly? Lots of things. However, it all starts with your site’s architecture (Backend). If a site is not structured properly, your site won’t just rank like it should. Examples of bad site architecture are:
- Too many outgoing links (Limit these as much as you can).
- Blog hosted on a subdomain (This simple mistake is running traffic for so many sites).
- Unhinged outgoing links (Don’t link out to people whether they are authority or not).
- Too many subdomains.
- The list goes on . . .
This really depends on the site but anything that is obstructing link juice flow, it needs to be taken care of immediately Once your site architecture is set, it’s time to move on to step 2.
On Page Optimization
Most people refer to this as on page optimization. Here we have to look at what’s already working and how we can take it to the next level.
Not only that, we want to make sure that we adhere to Google’s own best practices. Such as having long copy, nicely structured articles, media in various formats like PDFs, Videos etc and so on.
Another big factor here is internal linking. Are all your pages linked up properly? Again, this is going back to the link juice thing. If your pages are broken, your link juice won’t flow properly and it stifle your site from reaching it’s real potential.
Off Page SEO
This is where you need to focus on getting the word out there. This part kind of depends on the industry you’re in but since we’re talking SEO here, you need to find a way to build backlinks. Backlinks can be hand-built, semi-automated, paid for and the list goes on.
At the end of the day, just make sure your backlink profile is diverse. You don’t want 90% of your links coming from Forums or Guest Posts, etc. You want a well diversified backlink profile so your links look natural and bottom line, produce the results that you are looking for.
One of the best ways to acquire backlinks is first look at the keywords you are trying to rank for. For example: Toronto SEO The first step is to get a list of the top 30 sites that rank for that keyword. Then use tools like MOZ, AHREFS and a few others and find the average ‘metric’ for these sites.
Once you know your metric, then contact sites in this range and try to get your backlink on their as well. Another really fun way of getting backlinks is by featuring famous people (Thought leaders) in your space, doing a little blog post about them and letting them know.
Something like: “Hey [Thought Leader] Name, I just wrote a post about how awesome you are yada yada yada . . . Love to hear your thoughts on it and if you can share it with your own people, that would be great”.
Usually these kind of posts happen to get posted by your thought leaders almost right away. Especially through their social media channels (Twitter, Facebook, etc). So as you can see, once you get your metrics sorted, it’s really all about your creativity on acquiring these links.
Of course every SEO in Toronto has their own way of doing things but this is what has worked for me.
Advanced SEO
Once you start getting some on going conversions / sales and have a steady stream of incoming organic traffic. I will start recommending some advanced techniques.
These will help you dominate your space and basically, take over. This strategies often have a way to reveal themselves once we start getting some real traffic.
